About the Experience

A Once-in-a-Lifetime Wildlife Encounter

Gorilla trekking in Uganda is consistently ranked as one of the world's most extraordinary wildlife experiences. With only around 1,063 mountain gorillas remaining in the wild, this encounter offers a rare glimpse into the lives of our closest living relatives in their natural habitat.

Uganda's Bwindi Impenetrable National Park and Mgahinga Gorilla National Park protect 20 habituated gorilla families across different sectors. Each family has its own personality, social dynamics, and territory, ensuring every trek is unique. The ancient montane forests that shelter these gentle giants are themselves UNESCO World Heritage Sites—biodiversity hotspots teeming with rare birds, primates, butterflies, and plant species.

Where to Trek

Bwindi Impenetrable National Park: Home to over 400 mountain gorillas across four trekking sectors—Buhoma, Ruhija, Rushaga, and Nkuringo. Each offers different terrain and gorilla families.

Mgahinga Gorilla National Park: Smaller park at the base of the Virunga volcanoes, home to the Nyakagezi gorilla family. Stunning volcanic backdrop and opportunities to combine with golden monkey tracking.
